Why is Maha Shivratri on Wed 3 Mar in Ipameri?

Maha Shivratri is on Wed 3 Mar: Chaturdashi holds all of nishitha that night, and no other.

Chaturdashi holds all of nishitha, 00:01 Thu–00:47 Thu. Chaturdashi: 16:48 to 18:22 Thu.

Chaturdashi ended at 18:22; nishitha is Amavasya.

One row per day, on one clock (UTC−3). Band: the tithi. Box: Nishitha. Dark strip: night.

Shiva’s worship centres on nishitha, the midnight muhurta. Chaturdashi runs from 16:48 on Wed 3 Mar to 18:22 on Thu 4 Mar, so only Wednesday night’s nishitha (00:01 Thu–00:47 Thu) falls within it.

The rule

Phalguna Krishna Chaturdashi (purnimanta) · Magha Krishna Chaturdashi (amanta)

Shiva’s worship centres on nishitha, the midnight muhurta.

Smarta: the night whose nishitha Chaturdashi holds; when it touches both or neither, the later (Nirnayasindhu).
Vaishnava: the Smarta day.
