Privacy policy

Last updated: 18 October 2026

Tithika is run by Klaa Interactive Systems LLP (“we”). This policy says what personal data the Tithika apps (Android, iOS and the web app at app.tithika.com) and the website tithika.com process, why, for how long, who else receives it, and what you can do about it.

In short

  • There are no accounts. We never ask for your name, email address or phone number.
  • The places you add are kept on your device. To show a place’s panchang, the app asks our server for its area, about 10 km across, never your exact position.
  • “Use my location” is used on your device to pick the nearest place, and is then discarded. It is never sent to us.
  • The services that host Tithika and deliver it to you keep access logs, with your IP address, for up to one year.
  • Some pages of tithika.com ask your browser for a quick security check first. Passing it sets a cookie that lasts a day.
  • Before the apps read results, a quick check tells a person’s app from a program: the Android app asks Google Play Integrity about the app and the device, and the web app (or the Android app, when that check doesn’t pass or gets no answer) runs Cloudflare Turnstile.
  • Ads come from Google, and Tithika uses Google Analytics. Tithika uses tracking for personalised advertising and analytics only if you allow it.

What we process, and why

DataWhyHow long
The places you add, your language, tradition and theme To show your panchang. Kept only on your device (in the browser’s storage for the web app), never on our servers Until you remove them or uninstall the app (or clear the site’s data)
Your approximate position, only when you tap “Use my location” To pick the nearest place. Used on the device and discarded at once; it never reaches us Not kept
The area of each place (a grid cell about 10 km across), the month and the language, in each request To compute and send that month’s panchang. The request carries nothing that says who you are Requests are not stored, except in the access logs below. We keep an anonymous list of areas requested in the last 35 days, with the date only, so we can prepare the coming days in advance. It cannot be linked to any device, IP address or person
An access token Lets the app read results. It is issued without any sign-in and carries no identity Expires after 24 hours (1 hour when it was issued after the browser check below); we don’t store it
A check of the app and device, when the Android app asks for an access token To issue tokens only to the genuine Tithika app on a genuine device. Google Play Integrity, a Google service, receives information about the app (whether it was installed from Google Play), the device and its Google Play account, and tells us only a verdict: whether the app and device pass Google keeps it as its Play Integrity terms and data safety page says. We keep only a count of verdicts by outcome, and your IP address in the logs above
A security check in the web app, and in the Android app when that check doesn’t pass or gets no answer The same check as on tithika.com’s pages, through Cloudflare Turnstile, which receives your IP address and signals from your browser and device to tell a person from a program Cloudflare keeps them as its Turnstile Privacy Addendum says. We keep only a count of checks passed and failed
Your IP address, the address (URL) requested and the time, in the access logs of the services that host Tithika and deliver it to you Security, finding and fixing faults, and meeting legal requirements in India Up to one year
Your IP address, in memory only To limit how many requests one address can make, which keeps the service available Minutes; never written down
A security check, on the tithika.com pages beyond those we list for search engines To keep automated copying off the site. The check runs in your browser through Cloudflare Turnstile, which receives your IP address and signals from your browser and device to tell a person from a program Cloudflare keeps them as its Turnstile Privacy Addendum says. We keep only a count of checks passed and failed
A pass cookie, tk_pass, set when the check passes So the check isn’t asked again for a day. It holds only its expiry and a signature: no IP address and nothing that says who you are. It is strictly necessary for those pages, so it needs no consent One day
Tracking identifiers: the advertising ID and an app instance ID (Android and iOS apps), or cookies and similar identifiers (web); crash reports from the apps Personalised advertising, ad measurement and analytics, only if you allow tracking (without it, see “Without tracking” below); finding faults in the apps, only if you allow tracking Tithika’s Google Analytics property is set to keep event data for 14 months, and Tithika keeps an export of the same events in its own Google Cloud project for 14 months. Google otherwise keeps data under its own policies
Usage events, with or without tracking: device information (model, operating system, language, screen), your IP address, and the screens, pages and events in Tithika Analytics and ad measurement Tithika’s Google Analytics property is set to keep event data for 14 months, and Tithika keeps an export of the same events in its own Google Cloud project for 14 months. Google otherwise keeps data under its own policies
Page views on tithika.com To count visits by page type, referring site and search crawler. The count holds no IP address and no page address Kept as totals

The app keeps its copy of results on your device, encrypted, and doesn’t include it in your device’s backup.

Ads and usage statistics

On tithika.com, in the web app and in the Android and iOS apps, Tithika shows ads from Google and uses Google Analytics (in the apps through Firebase, with Firebase Crashlytics for crash reports). One question, “Allow tracking?”, decides what Tithika requests from Google:

  • Identifiers: the advertising ID and an app instance ID in the Android and iOS apps; cookies and similar identifiers on the web. In the iOS app, the question is asked through Apple’s own tracking prompt; Apple’s documentation states that an app gets the advertising ID only after you allow tracking there (Apple).
  • With tracking allowed: Tithika sends these identifiers, with device information (model, operating system, language, screen), your IP address, and the screens, pages and events in Tithika, to Google for personalised advertising, ad measurement and analytics. The apps also send crash reports to Firebase Crashlytics. Google may combine them with data from other apps and websites, as Google describes in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
  • Without tracking (Don’t allow, closing the question, or no answer yet): Tithika requests non-personalised ads and sets Google’s analytics-storage signal to “denied”. What Google does with such requests is described in Google’s documentation on non-personalised ads and consent mode.
  • Under-18 accounts (apps): when the app store (Google Play or Apple’s App Store) reports the account as belonging to someone under 18, Tithika asks no question, requests ads with Google’s child treatment and a general-audience content rating, and sets all of Google’s consent signals to “denied”.

Your answer is kept on your device (on the web, in a cookie on tithika.com) for up to a year; then you are asked again. You can change it at any time: in the apps under Settings › Privacy, and on the web from “Privacy choices” at the foot of every page.

Tithika’s Google Analytics property is set to keep event data for 14 months, and Tithika keeps an export of the same events in its own Google Cloud project for 14 months. Google otherwise keeps data under its own policies.

With tracking allowed, Tithika turns on Google’s advertising features in Google Analytics (Google signals, demographics and interests reports, and audiences for ads); Google describes them in its Advertising Features policy. You can opt out of them in Google’s Ads Settings, with the NAI opt-out, or on the web with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your earlier visits to tithika.com and other sites. Google’s advertising cookies let it and its partners serve you ads based on those visits. You can turn off personalised ads from Google in Google’s Ads Settings. Other ad partners may also use cookies; you can opt out of many of them at aboutads.info.

Who else receives data

  • Service providers that host Tithika and deliver it to you, such as data centres and content delivery networks. They process data only on our instructions and only to run Tithika.
  • Cloudflare, for the security check on some pages of tithika.com, in the web app and in the Android app (Cloudflare Turnstile), under its Turnstile Privacy Addendum. It uses what it receives to run the check and keep it working.
  • Google LLC, for advertising and analytics, as described above, and for the check of the Android app and device (Google Play Integrity). Tithika uses Google Analytics; how Google collects and processes this data is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Nobody else. We don’t sell personal data or share it for any other purpose.

Where data is processed

We and our service providers process data in data centres in more than one country, which may be outside the country where you live. These countries can change as we run the service. Wherever data is processed, it is handled as this policy describes, and it moves between countries only as the data protection laws that apply to us allow. Where Google processes advertising and analytics data is described in Google’s privacy policy.

Your rights

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act and Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Act (and similar laws where you live), you have rights over personal data that identifies you: to access, correct or erase it, to withdraw consent, to name someone to act for you, and to complain.

Tithika has no accounts and keeps nothing that identifies you. What you add stays on your device, where you can change or remove it at any time. Access logs record an IP address, not a person, so we cannot find any of them as yours.

To use these rights, ask a question or make a complaint, write to privacy@tithika.com. If you aren’t satisfied with our reply, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India, or in Thailand to the Personal Data Protection Committee.

Changes

When this policy changes, we update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects the tracking you allowed, we ask you again.
