Why is Maha Shivratri on Thu 6 Mar in Ipameri?

Maha Shivratri is on Thu 6 Mar: Chaturdashi holds all of nishitha that night, and no other.

Nishitha is Trayodashi; Chaturdashi begins at 02:46 Thu. Chaturdashi: 02:46 Thu to 02:39 Fri.

Chaturdashi holds all of nishitha, 00:00 Fri–00:47 Fri. Chaturdashi: 02:46 to 02:39 Fri.

One row per day, on one clock (UTC−3). Band: the tithi. Box: Nishitha. Dark strip: night.

Shiva’s worship centres on nishitha, the midnight muhurta. Chaturdashi runs from 02:46 on Thu 6 Mar to 02:39 on Fri 7 Mar, so only Thursday night’s nishitha (00:00 Fri–00:47 Fri) falls within it.

The rule

Vaishnava: the Smarta day.
