Why is Maha Shivratri on Fri 17 Feb in Codcod?

Maha Shivratri is on Fri 17 Feb: Chaturdashi holds all of nishitha that night, and no other.

Nishitha is Trayodashi; Chaturdashi begins at 10:49 Fri.

Chaturdashi holds all of nishitha, 23:36–00:25 Sat. Chaturdashi: 10:49 to 09:14 Sat.

One row per day, on one clock (UTC+8). Band: the tithi. Box: Nishitha. Dark strip: night.

Shiva’s worship centres on nishitha, the midnight muhurta. Chaturdashi runs from 10:49 on Fri 17 Feb to 09:14 on Sat 18 Feb, so only Friday night’s nishitha (23:36–00:25 Sat) falls within it.

Vaishnava: the Smarta day.
