Why is Maha Shivratri on Sun 27 Feb in Codcod?

Maha Shivratri is on Sun 27 Feb: Chaturdashi touches nishitha that night, and no other.

Trayodashi until 23:37, inside nishitha; then Chaturdashi. Chaturdashi: 23:37 to 20:07 Mon.

Chaturdashi ended at 20:07; nishitha is Amavasya.

One row per day, on one clock (UTC+8). Band: the tithi. Box: Nishitha. Dark strip: night.

Shiva’s worship centres on nishitha, the midnight muhurta. Chaturdashi runs from 23:37 on Sun 27 Feb to 20:07 on Mon 28 Feb, so it touches only Sunday night’s nishitha (23:35–00:23 Mon).

The rule

Phalguna Krishna Chaturdashi (purnimanta) · Magha Krishna Chaturdashi (amanta)

Shiva’s worship centres on nishitha, the midnight muhurta.

Smarta: the night whose nishitha Chaturdashi holds; when it touches both or neither, the later (Nirnayasindhu).
Vaishnava: the Smarta day.
