Why is Rama Navami on Sat 13 Apr or Sun 14 Apr in Pāthardi?
Smarta · Rama Navami is on Sat 13 Apr: Navami touches madhyahna that day, and no other.
Ashtami until 11:41, inside madhyahna; then Navami. Navami: 11:41 to 09:35 Sun.
Navami ended at 09:35; madhyahna is Dashami. Navami: 11:41 Sat to 09:35.
One row per day, on one clock (IST). Band: the tithi. Box: Madhyahna. Light strip: day; dark strip: night.
Rama’s birth is celebrated at madhyahna, the middle fifth of the day. Navami runs from 11:41 on Sat 13 Apr to 09:35 on Sun 14 Apr, so it touches only Saturday’s madhyahna (11:14–13:45).
Vaishnavas keep Rama Navami on a tithi that Ashtami does not pierce: Navami holds sunrise on Sun 14 Apr, at 06:13. Reading the Vaishnava rule by sunrise is Tithika’s convention.
