Why is Maha Shivratri on Tue 17 Feb in Ipameri?

Maha Shivratri is on Tue 17 Feb: Chaturdashi holds all of nishitha that night, and no other.

Chaturdashi holds all of nishitha, 00:03 Wed–00:49 Wed. Chaturdashi: 20:10 to 22:33 Wed.

Chaturdashi ended at 22:33; nishitha is Amavasya. Chaturdashi: 20:10 Tue to 22:33.

One row per day, on one clock (UTC−3). Band: the tithi. Box: Nishitha. Dark strip: night.

Shiva’s worship centres on nishitha, the midnight muhurta. Chaturdashi runs from 20:10 on Tue 17 Feb to 22:33 on Wed 18 Feb, so only Tuesday night’s nishitha (00:03 Wed–00:49 Wed) falls within it.

The rule

Phalguna Krishna Chaturdashi (purnimanta) · Magha Krishna Chaturdashi (amanta)

Vaishnava: the Smarta day.
