Why is Maha Shivratri on Wed 19 Feb in Sevan?

Maha Shivratri is on Wed 19 Feb: Chaturdashi touches nishitha that night, and no other.

Trayodashi until 01:14 Thu, inside nishitha; then Chaturdashi. Chaturdashi: 01:14 Thu to 22:25 Thu.

Chaturdashi ended at 22:25; nishitha is Amavasya. Chaturdashi: 01:14 to 22:25.

One row per day, on one clock (UTC+4). Band: the tithi. Box: Nishitha. Dark strip: night.

Shiva’s worship centres on nishitha, the midnight muhurta. Chaturdashi runs from 01:14 on Thu 20 Feb to 22:25 on Thu 20 Feb, so it touches only Wednesday night’s nishitha (00:47 Thu–01:39 Thu).

The rule

Phalguna Krishna Chaturdashi (purnimanta) · Magha Krishna Chaturdashi (amanta)

Shiva’s worship centres on nishitha, the midnight muhurta.

Smarta: the night whose nishitha Chaturdashi holds; when it touches both or neither, the later (Nirnayasindhu).
Vaishnava: the Smarta day.
