Why is Maha Shivratri on Wed 19 Feb in Ipameri?

Maha Shivratri is on Wed 19 Feb: Chaturdashi holds all of nishitha that night, and no other.

Chaturdashi holds all of nishitha, 00:03 Thu–00:49 Thu. Chaturdashi: 18:14 to 15:25 Thu.

Chaturdashi ended at 15:25; nishitha is Amavasya.

One row per day, on one clock (UTC−3). Band: the tithi. Box: Nishitha. Dark strip: night.

Shiva’s worship centres on nishitha, the midnight muhurta. Chaturdashi runs from 18:14 on Wed 19 Feb to 15:25 on Thu 20 Feb, so only Wednesday night’s nishitha (00:03 Thu–00:49 Thu) falls within it.

The rule

Phalguna Krishna Chaturdashi (purnimanta) · Magha Krishna Chaturdashi (amanta)

Shiva’s worship centres on nishitha, the midnight muhurta.

Smarta: the night whose nishitha Chaturdashi holds; when it touches both or neither, the later (Nirnayasindhu).
Vaishnava: the Smarta day.
