Why is Maha Shivratri on Sat 6 Mar in Thazhecode?
Maha Shivratri is on Sat 6 Mar: Chaturdashi holds all of nishitha that night, and no other.
Chaturdashi holds all of nishitha, 00:13 Sun–01:01 Sun. Chaturdashi: 12:04 to 13:46 Sun.
Chaturdashi ended at 13:46; nishitha is Amavasya.
One row per day, on one clock (IST). Band: the tithi. Box: Nishitha. Dark strip: night.
Shiva’s worship centres on nishitha, the midnight muhurta. Chaturdashi runs from 12:04 on Sat 6 Mar to 13:46 on Sun 7 Mar, so only Saturday night’s nishitha (00:13 Sun–01:01 Sun) falls within it.
