Why is Maha Shivratri on Sun 15 Feb in Split?

Maha Shivratri is on Sun 15 Feb: Chaturdashi holds all of nishitha that night, and no other.

Chaturdashi holds all of nishitha, 23:41–00:34 Mon. Chaturdashi: 12:35 to 13:04 Mon.

Chaturdashi ended at 13:04; nishitha is Amavasya.

One row per day, on one clock (UTC+1). Band: the tithi. Box: Nishitha. Dark strip: night.

Shiva’s worship centres on nishitha, the midnight muhurta. Chaturdashi runs from 12:35 on Sun 15 Feb to 13:04 on Mon 16 Feb, so only Sunday night’s nishitha (23:41–00:34 Mon) falls within it.

The rule

Phalguna Krishna Chaturdashi (purnimanta) · Magha Krishna Chaturdashi (amanta)

Shiva’s worship centres on nishitha, the midnight muhurta.

Smarta: the night whose nishitha Chaturdashi holds; when it touches both or neither, the later (Nirnayasindhu).
Vaishnava: the Smarta day.
