Why is Maha Shivratri on Wed 26 Feb in Codcod?

Maha Shivratri is on Wed 26 Feb: Chaturdashi holds all of nishitha that night, and no other.

Chaturdashi holds all of nishitha, 23:35–00:24 Thu. Chaturdashi: 13:38 to 11:25 Thu.

Chaturdashi ended at 11:25; nishitha is Amavasya.

One row per day, on one clock (UTC+8). Band: the tithi. Box: Nishitha. Dark strip: night.

Shiva’s worship centres on nishitha, the midnight muhurta. Chaturdashi runs from 13:38 on Wed 26 Feb to 11:25 on Thu 27 Feb, so only Wednesday night’s nishitha (23:35–00:24 Thu) falls within it.

The rule

Phalguna Krishna Chaturdashi (purnimanta) · Magha Krishna Chaturdashi (amanta)

Shiva’s worship centres on nishitha, the midnight muhurta.

Smarta: the night whose nishitha Chaturdashi holds; when it touches both or neither, the later (Nirnayasindhu).
Vaishnava: the Smarta day.
