Why is Maha Shivratri on Mon 28 Feb in Ipameri?

Maha Shivratri is on Mon 28 Feb: Chaturdashi holds all of nishitha that night, and no other.

Chaturdashi holds all of nishitha, 00:02 Tue–00:48 Tue. Chaturdashi: 18:46 to 16:30 Tue.

Chaturdashi ended at 16:30; nishitha is Amavasya.

One row per day, on one clock (UTC−3). Band: the tithi. Box: Nishitha. Dark strip: night.

Shiva’s worship centres on nishitha, the midnight muhurta. Chaturdashi runs from 18:46 on Mon 28 Feb to 16:30 on Tue 1 Mar, so only Monday night’s nishitha (00:02 Tue–00:48 Tue) falls within it.

The rule

Phalguna Krishna Chaturdashi (purnimanta) · Magha Krishna Chaturdashi (amanta)

Shiva’s worship centres on nishitha, the midnight muhurta.

Smarta: the night whose nishitha Chaturdashi holds; when it touches both or neither, the later (Nirnayasindhu).
Vaishnava: the Smarta day.
