Why is Maha Shivratri on Mon 4 Mar in Ipameri?

Maha Shivratri is on Mon 4 Mar: Chaturdashi holds all of nishitha that night, and no other.

Nishitha is Trayodashi; Chaturdashi begins at 07:58 Mon.

Chaturdashi holds all of nishitha, 00:01 Tue–00:47 Tue. Chaturdashi: 07:58 to 10:37 Tue.

One row per day, on one clock (UTC−3). Band: the tithi. Box: Nishitha. Dark strip: night.

Shiva’s worship centres on nishitha, the midnight muhurta. Chaturdashi runs from 07:58 on Mon 4 Mar to 10:37 on Tue 5 Mar, so only Monday night’s nishitha (00:01 Tue–00:47 Tue) falls within it.

The rule

Phalguna Krishna Chaturdashi (purnimanta) · Magha Krishna Chaturdashi (amanta)

Shiva’s worship centres on nishitha, the midnight muhurta.

Smarta: the night whose nishitha Chaturdashi holds; when it touches both or neither, the later (Nirnayasindhu).
Vaishnava: the Smarta day.
