Why is Maha Shivratri on Fri 24 Feb in Ipameri?

Maha Shivratri is on Fri 24 Feb: Chaturdashi holds all of nishitha that night, and no other.

Chaturdashi holds all of nishitha, 00:02 Sat–00:48 Sat. Chaturdashi: 13:08 to 12:50 Sat.

Chaturdashi ended at 12:50; nishitha is Amavasya.

One row per day, on one clock (UTC−3). Band: the tithi. Box: Nishitha. Dark strip: night.

Shiva’s worship centres on nishitha, the midnight muhurta. Chaturdashi runs from 13:08 on Fri 24 Feb to 12:50 on Sat 25 Feb, so only Friday night’s nishitha (00:02 Sat–00:48 Sat) falls within it.

The rule

Phalguna Krishna Chaturdashi (purnimanta) · Magha Krishna Chaturdashi (amanta)

Shiva’s worship centres on nishitha, the midnight muhurta.

Smarta: the night whose nishitha Chaturdashi holds; when it touches both or neither, the later (Nirnayasindhu).
Vaishnava: the Smarta day.
