Karwa Chauth is on Sat 20 Oct: Chaturthi touches moonrise on neither night, and the later day is taken.

Moonrise at 19:45 is Tritiya; Chaturthi begins at 21:47. Chaturthi: 21:47 to 19:10 Sat.

The rule

Kartika Krishna Chaturthi (purnimanta) · Ashwina Krishna Chaturthi (amanta)

The Karwa Chauth fast is broken at moonrise.

Smarta: the night whose moonrise Chaturthi holds; when it touches both, the earlier; when neither, the later (Dharmasindhu).
Vaishnava: the Smarta day.
