Why is Janmashtami on Sun 13 Aug in Thazhecode?
Janmashtami is on Sun 13 Aug: Ashtami holds all of nishitha that night, and no other.
Nishitha is Saptami; Ashtami begins at 04:43 Sun.
Ashtami holds all of nishitha, 00:07 Mon–00:53 Mon. Ashtami: 04:43 to 05:37 Mon.
One row per day, on one clock (IST). Band: the tithi. Box: Nishitha. Dark strip: night.
Krishna’s birth is celebrated at nishitha, the midnight muhurta. Ashtami runs from 04:43 on Sun 13 Aug to 05:37 on Mon 14 Aug, so only Sunday night’s nishitha (00:07 Mon–00:53 Mon) falls within it. Every reading takes that day.
