Why is Janmashtami on Mon 26 Aug in Thazhecode?
Janmashtami is on Mon 26 Aug: Ashtami holds all of nishitha that night, and no other.
Nishitha is Saptami; Ashtami begins at 03:39 Mon.
Ashtami holds all of nishitha, 00:04 Tue–00:50 Tue. Ashtami: 03:39 to 02:20 Tue.
One row per day, on one clock (IST). Band: the tithi. Box: Nishitha. Dark strip: night.
Krishna’s birth is celebrated at nishitha, the midnight muhurta. Ashtami runs from 03:39 on Mon 26 Aug to 02:20 on Tue 27 Aug, so only Monday night’s nishitha (00:04 Tue–00:50 Tue) falls within it. Every reading takes that day.
