Why is Devshayani Ekadashi on Tue 20 Jul in Tehran?
Devshayani Ekadashi is on Tue 20 Jul: Ekadashi holds that sunrise and all of its arunodaya.
Ekadashi through all of arunodaya and at sunrise. Ekadashi: 21:00 Mon to 18:17.
Ekadashi ended at 18:17 Tue; arunodaya is Dwadashi.
One row per day, on one clock (UTC+4:30). Band: the tithi. Box: Arunodaya. Light strip: day; dark strip: night. Sun: sunrise.
Smartas test Ekadashi at sunrise: it holds sunrise on Tue 20 Jul only, at 06:03: Tue 20 Jul. Vaishnavas test arunodaya: Dashami ended at 21:00 Mon, before it (04:27–06:03).
Breaking the fast
Smarta · Vaishnava · Wed 21 Jul, 06:04–15:26
Parana is on Dwadashi, after its first quarter (harivasara) and before it ends. Dwadashi runs from 18:17 on Tue 20 Jul to 15:26 on Wed 21 Jul; harivasara ends at 23:35 Tue. So parana runs from sunrise on Wed 21 Jul, 06:04. Dwadashi runs past midday: the Dharmasindhu reports that many keep parana to the first 3 muhurtas after sunrise, until 08:54.
