Devshayani Ekadashi is on Tue 20 Jul: Ekadashi holds that sunrise and all of its arunodaya.
Ekadashi through all of arunodaya and at sunrise. Ekadashi: 19:30 Mon to 16:47.
Ekadashi ended at 16:47 Tue; arunodaya is Dwadashi.
One row per day, on one clock (UTC+3). Band: the tithi. Box: Arunodaya. Light strip: day; dark strip: night. Sun: sunrise.
Smartas test Ekadashi at sunrise: it holds sunrise on Tue 20 Jul only, at 06:06: Tue 20 Jul. Vaishnavas test arunodaya: Dashami ended at 19:30 Mon, before it (04:30–06:06).
Breaking the fast
Smarta · Vaishnava · Wed 21 Jul, 06:07–13:56
Parana is on Dwadashi, after its first quarter (harivasara) and before it ends. Dwadashi runs from 16:47 on Tue 20 Jul to 13:56 on Wed 21 Jul; harivasara ends at 22:05 Tue. So parana runs from sunrise on Wed 21 Jul, 06:07. Dwadashi runs past midday: the Dharmasindhu reports that many keep parana to the first 3 muhurtas after sunrise, until 09:05.
