Bhai Dooj tilak muhurat: what time?
Katha, puja vidhi and fasting rules
The same for every city, on the Bhai Dooj 2027 page:
Why is Bhai Dooj on Sat 30 Oct in Diffa?
Bhai Dooj is on Sat 30 Oct: Dwitiya touches aparahna that day, and no other.
Pratipada until 13:22, inside aparahna; then Dwitiya. Dwitiya: 13:22 to 12:43 Sun.
Dwitiya ended at 12:43; aparahna is Tritiya. Dwitiya: 13:22 Sat to 12:43.
One row per day, on one clock (UTC+1). Band: the tithi. Box: Aparahna. Light strip: day; dark strip: night.
The tilak is applied in aparahna, the fourth fifth of the day. Dwitiya runs from 13:22 on Sat 30 Oct to 12:43 on Sun 31 Oct, so it touches only Saturday’s aparahna (13:03–15:23). No text giving Bhai Dooj’s time was found; aparahna is Tithika’s convention.
The rule
Kartika Shukla Dwitiya
The tilak is applied in aparahna, the fourth fifth of the day.
- Smarta
- the day whose aparahna Dwitiya holds: Tithika’s convention, since no text gives the time.
- Vaishnava
- the Smarta day.
